Whydle
Rate itFive things are already in order. Work out what they are sorted by.
Every day: One numbered puzzle a day, the same for everyone (#6 on 6 October 2026: five cities, Dubai at the top and Rome at the bottom): five things already in order, and you work out what they are sorted by. New puzzle: Midnight, player's local time.

Whydle shows five things ranked from highest to lowest and asks why they are in that order. You pick the hidden measure from five options, and wrong picks are struck out until you find it. The facts come from Wikidata and cited references.
About Whydle
Each day Whydle puts five things of one kind in a column, highest at the top and lowest at the bottom, with a label for the topic such as Cities or Actors. On 6 October 2026, puzzle #6, the list ran Dubai, Amsterdam, Cairo, London, Rome. Below it are five possible orders, such as area, year founded or population, and you choose the one that matches.
A wrong guess is struck out and you try again, so every puzzle ends solved; the score is how many tries it took. After you find the answer the game shows the real values and how the list would have looked under each of the other options, which is often the most interesting part.
The facts are drawn from Wikidata with references, and each item links to its entry. The game first ran on 1 October 2026, and the arrows beside the puzzle number take you back to earlier days. A stats panel keeps your record.
It suits players who like ranking games such as Factle or Disorderly but would rather reason backwards from an order than build one.
How to play Whydle
- Read the topic and the five things, ranked from highest at the top to lowest at the bottom.
- Look at the five options below and think about which measure would put them in that order.
- Pick one option and lock it in.
- If it is wrong it is struck out: pick again until you find it, in as few tries as you can.
- Read the real values and see how the other options would have ordered the list.

Tips
- Check the extremes first: the item at the top and the one at the bottom often rule out most options.
- Ask whether an option would even differ much between the items; a measure where two are close is a risky pick.
- Use the reveal after each puzzle: the values for the other options teach you facts that come up again.
