Variablo (Tagesspiegel)
Crack the day's four-colour code in ten guesses.
Every day: One secret code of four colours a day, the same for every player, to crack in ten guesses with coloured feedback after each try. New puzzle: Midnight, when the next day's code is scheduled.

Variablo is Der Tagesspiegel's daily code-breaking game. Pick four colours, submit your guess and read the feedback: green for the right colour in the right place, yellow for the right colour in the wrong place, grey for a colour not in the code. You have ten tries.
About Variablo (Tagesspiegel)
Variablo is a daily take on the classic code-breaking game. Each day the Tagesspiegel puzzle site sets one hidden code of four colours, and every player works on the same one. A colour appears in the code at most once.
You build a guess from four colours and submit it. Each position then shows green if the colour is right and in the right place, yellow if the colour is in the code but elsewhere, and grey if the colour is not in the code. Ten guesses are allowed, and the end screen tells you how many you needed.
The game runs on the Puzzlr platform alongside Tagesspiegel's other daily puzzles, Rasterix, Zahlenfix and Wortflip. It is in German but needs almost no reading, so it suits anyone who likes a short logic puzzle with a clear answer each day.
How to play Variablo (Tagesspiegel)
- Open Variablo on Tagesspiegel Spiele.
- Choose four colours for your guess and submit it.
- Read the feedback: green right place, yellow wrong place, grey not in the code.
- Use what you learned to build the next guess.
- Find the full code within ten guesses.
Tips
- Since no colour repeats, your first two guesses can test eight different colours.
- Move a yellow colour to a new position each time to pin down where it belongs.
- Drop grey colours at once; they cannot appear anywhere in the code.
- Before each guess, check it fits every piece of feedback so far.
