Mind Control is Lex Friedman's daily take on Mastermind, part of the Lex.Games puzzle site and app. You guess a hidden row of four coloured pegs and use the small black and white pegs after each guess to deduce the code. It is limited to paying Lex.Games subscribers.
About Mind Control (Lex.Games)
Mind Control works like the classic board game Mastermind. The day's solution is a row of four pegs drawn from six colours, and colours can repeat. You build a guess from the colour palette and submit it; next to the guess appear small feedback dots, black for a peg that is the right colour in the right place and white (or hollow) for a right colour in the wrong place. With a few rows to work with, you narrow the code down by logic.
The daily puzzle is numbered and dated, the same for every player, and the archive lists every past code back to its launch in April 2024. There is also Mind Control Rando for unlimited random codes, a High Contrast mode, and daily and monthly leaderboards across the Lex.Games site.
Lex.Games is run by Lex Friedman, who also makes Conlextions, Lexicogs, Six Appeal and a daily crossword. Mind Control is one of the premium games: on the web it needs a logged-in paying subscriber account, and it is also included in the Lex.Games app for iPhone and iPad.
It suits fans of Mastermind and of Wordle-style feedback puzzles who want a quick colour code to crack with their morning word games.

Tips
- Open with two pairs of colours (for example red, red, yellow, yellow) to learn about four colours at once.
- Remember that colours can repeat in the solution.
- Feedback dots do not say which peg they refer to; compare rows that differ by one peg to pin them down.
- Try Mind Control Rando for unlimited practice before chasing the daily leaderboard.
