Tatami is a Shikaku puzzle game for iPhone with a paper-and-ink look. Every day brings one grid and every week a larger one, the same for every player in the world. Between dailies there are 750 puzzles in five packs from 5x5 to 9x9.

About Tatami: Logic Puzzles

Tatami is Shikaku, a classic Japanese logic puzzle. The grid is scattered with numbers, and you divide it into rectangles so that each rectangle contains exactly one number and covers exactly that many squares. Every puzzle has a single answer, checked by hand, and no guessing is needed.

The Daily tile on the home screen opens a new puzzle each day, and the Weekly tile a larger challenge each week. Both are the same for every player worldwide. Solving the daily before midnight keeps your streak going.

Beside the dailies sit five packs of 150 puzzles each, named after Japanese crafts and arts: Hajimari (5x5, gentle), Origami (6x6), Shibori (7x7), Kintsugi (8x8) and Karesansui (9x9, master). A Time Trial mode races your best time across mixed sizes. Finished rectangles fill in with flat, bright colours and thick ink outlines on cream paper, with serif numerals.

Tatami is made by Huetic, the studio behind Eulerian, and came out in May 2026. It shows no ads while you play and needs no timer. Hints are optional: watch a short ad for a free one or buy more in the Store.

Tips

  • Start with numbers that can only fit one way, such as a large number squeezed against an edge.
  • A prime number such as 5 or 7 can only be a single row or column, which cuts its options sharply.
  • Squares that only one number can reach must belong to that number's rectangle.
  • Corners are good places to begin: a corner square has few numbers able to cover it.
