Today's Times of India Sudoku: a 9x9 grid with most digits given and a few empty cells, a timer at 00:00:06, a number pad from 1 to 9, Submit and pencil buttons and an Auto Check box

TOI Sudoku is the daily sudoku on the Times of India website. Fill the 9x9 grid so every row, column and 3x3 box has the digits 1 to 9, while a timer runs. Reveals are available but add time, and an AutoCheck option shows the possible digits for each cell.

About Sudoku (Times of India)

TOI Sudoku is the number puzzle in TOI Games, the games section of The Times of India website. It is a standard 9x9 sudoku: some digits are given, and you fill the rest so that each row, each column and each 3x3 box contains 1 to 9 exactly once.

There is one puzzle a day, labelled Today's Sudoku Puzzle. A timer starts when you begin, and the help bar lets you reveal a single digit or the whole grid. Each reveal adds a time penalty that grows the more you use it, so the hints are there for when you are truly stuck.

The AutoCheck option shows the candidate digits for each cell based on what you have filled so far, and the suggestions update as you go. Given digits, your own entries and revealed digits are shown in different styles so you can tell them apart.

A pencil switch lets you note candidates in a cell before committing, and a Submit button ends the solve. The grids lean easy: the puzzle we saw had most of its cells given, so it is a quick warm-up rather than a long logic session.

It suits casual sudoku players who want one timed grid a day without installing an app.

How to play Sudoku (Times of India)

  1. Open today's Sudoku on TOI Games.
  2. Click an empty cell and type a digit from 1 to 9.
  3. Make sure no digit repeats in any row, column or 3x3 box.
  4. Use AutoCheck to see candidates, or reveal a digit at a time cost if stuck.
  5. Fill the whole grid to finish.

Tips

  • Scan each 3x3 box for the digit that can only go in one place.
  • Look for cells with a single possible candidate before guessing anything.
  • Save reveals for the end; each one adds more time than the last.
