Sudoku (Tagesspiegel)
The Berlin Tagesspiegel's sudoku of the day, at four levels, in the browser.
Every day: A numbered 9x9 sudoku of the day at each level (Leicht, Mittel, Schwer, Experte), the same grids for every player, with the last few days (Gestern and earlier) still playable. New puzzle: Once a day; the site does not state the time.

The Tagesspiegel Sudoku is the Berlin newspaper's daily 9x9 sudoku. Each day brings a numbered grid at four levels, from Leicht to Experte, played in the browser with a notes mode, a hint button and a timer. It is free with ads; registering adds statistics.
About Sudoku (Tagesspiegel)
The sudoku runs on its own address, sudoku.tagesspiegel.de, and is one of the Tagesspiele that the Berlin daily Der Tagesspiegel links from its games page, next to word games such as Wortagon and number puzzles such as Zahlenfix.
Every day there is a new numbered sudoku, labelled as today's game, at each of four levels: Leicht, Mittel, Schwer and Experte. You switch level from the red menu above the grid. The days before stay listed as Gestern and by weekday, so a missed puzzle can still be played for a while.
The page shows the grid with the given digits shaded, a number pad of 1 to 9 beside it, a delete key, a Notizen switch for pencil marks and a Hilfe button for a hint. A counter above the grid records Fehleingaben (wrong entries), a clock runs at the side and can be paused, and there are buttons to restart the grid or print it. The help pages explain the rules and solving strategies in German.
The game is free to play with advertising, or without ads through the Tagesspiegel's contentpass option. Statistics, including a live count of other players, need a free account. It suits sudoku players who want a fresh grid at the level they like each day, in German.
How to play Sudoku (Tagesspiegel)
- Open sudoku.tagesspiegel.de and choose a level from the menu above the grid.
- Select an empty cell and tap a digit on the number pad.
- Fill the grid so every row, column and 3x3 box holds the digits 1 to 9 once.
- Switch on Notizen to pencil in candidates, and use Hilfe if you are stuck.
- Finish the grid to stop the clock; come back the next day for a new one.
Tips
- Start with the rows, columns and boxes that already have the most digits.
- Use Notizen for cells with two or three candidates and clear them as you go.
- Wrong entries are counted, so check a digit against its row, column and box before entering it.
- If Experte is too much, the same day has easier grids at Leicht and Mittel.
