Masque Publishing's Sudoku is the daily sudoku on Yahoo Games. Each day has one 9x9 board for everyone, at a difficulty from 1 to 5 that varies through the week, and a date picker keeps about a month of past boards. Every puzzle can be solved by logic alone.

About Sudoku (Masque Publishing)

Sudoku is a free browser sudoku from Masque Publishing, the studio behind many of the classic card and puzzle games on Yahoo Games. It runs on desktop and phone without an account.

Each day brings one board, the same for every player. The difficulty is set per day on a scale of 1 to 5, so a run of gentle boards can be followed by a hard one; in late September and early October 2026 most days were level 1, with a level 5 board every few days. The puzzle selector shows the recent dates, so a missed board stays playable for about a month.

The rules are the classic ones: fill each row, column and 3x3 box with the digits 1 to 9 without repeating one. You can enter a number by picking a cell and then a digit, or pick a digit first and tap several cells. Notes let you pencil in candidates and cross them out, and every puzzle is made to be solved by logic without guessing.

It suits sudoku players who want one dated board a day in the browser, and newcomers, who can start on the easy days.

How to play Sudoku (Masque Publishing)

  1. Open Sudoku on Yahoo Games and pick today's date in the puzzle selector.
  2. Select an empty cell, then a digit to place it; or choose a digit first and tap the cells it goes in.
  3. Make sure each row, column and 3x3 box ends up with every digit from 1 to 9 exactly once.
  4. Use notes to mark the digits a cell could still hold, and cross them out as you rule them out.
  5. Fill the last cell to finish the day's board.

Tips

  • Scan each digit across the whole board first: boxes missing only one or two places for it fill quickly.
  • When two cells in a row or box can only hold the same two digits, remove those digits from the rest of that row or box.
  • On a level 5 day, keep full notes early; the hard boards need candidate eliminations rather than single sightings.
