Shift5: Portal Rubik is a free browser puzzle on a plus-shaped board of five faces. You slide rows and columns, and tiles that leave one edge come back through a portal on a connected face, until each face holds only its own number. A numbered Daily Puzzle gives everyone the same scramble each day.
About Shift5: Portal Rubik
Shift5: Portal Rubik is a sliding puzzle released on itch.io in 2026 by ragnarcs. The board is a plus sign made of five square faces, numbered 1 to 5 and each with its own colour. A scramble mixes the tiles, and you put them back by dragging whole rows and columns.
The twist is the portals. A tile pushed off the edge of a face does not simply wrap to the other side of the same row; it passes to a connected face, so one slide can move tiles between several faces at once, much like turning a layer of a Rubik's cube. A Portal button shows which edges connect, and a limited number of hints point to a good next move.
The Daily Puzzle is one scramble a day, numbered from the game's launch and the same for every player: a 3x3 board at Medium difficulty in Classic mode, with no time limit. Solving it counts toward a daily streak, and the result screen gives stars for move efficiency, your moves and time, and a share button.
Outside the daily you can pick a 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 board, four difficulty levels from 5 to 80 scramble moves, and Blitz, Rapid or Classic timing, with a rating that moves through eight ranks. It runs in one small page, works with a mouse, arrow keys or touch, and keeps your progress in the browser.

Tips
- Start with an Easy 2x2 board outside the daily to learn where each portal leads.
- Finish one face at a time, then use slides that pass through the solved face twice so it ends up unchanged.
- Fewer moves earn more stars, so use Undo rather than piling up corrective slides.
