Roll Solver share card: letter tiles spelling ROLL above the question Can your 12 letters make a crossword?

Roll Solver is a word dice game where 12 rolled letters must be laid out as one connected little crossword, with every run across and down a real word. In Daily Ranked everyone gets the same roll and a twist, and you are ranked on it; other modes let you duel friends or race ten players on one roll.

About Roll Solver

Roll Solver is a browser word game built around a roll of 12 letter tiles, shown on Hacker News in 2026 as a daily multiplayer word puzzle. It installs as a web app on phones as well as playing in a browser.

The puzzle is the same in every mode. You take the 12 letters and arrange them on a grid as one connected crossword, where every run of letters across and down must be a real word of three letters or more. Scoring rewards both coverage and tight building: a point for each letter in a valid word, two for each crossing where an across and a down word share a square, and a bonus of 12 for using every tile.

Daily Ranked gives every player the same roll, with a twist that changes from day to day, such as a 60-second blitz or a rule that you must use all 12 tiles or score zero. You keep a daily streak and see how friends did. Beside it sit Arena, where ten players get one roll and one shot, a timed Best Board mode and Word Claim, a duel where the first to cross a word owns it, plus an untimed practice mode that works offline.

It suits players who enjoy building words from a rack, as in Bananagrams or Scrabble, and want a short daily puzzle with a ranking.

How to play Roll Solver

  1. Open rollsolver.com and choose Daily Ranked.
  2. Look at the day's 12 letter tiles and the day's twist.
  3. Place tiles on the grid to form words across and down, all connected.
  4. Make sure every run of three or more letters is a real word.
  5. Submit your board to score it and see your rank for the day.

Tips

  • Build crossings early: each shared square is worth two extra points.
  • Keep awkward letters for the middle of a long word, where they can be crossed.
  • Using all 12 tiles is worth 12 points, so a slightly lower-scoring full board often wins.
