Rackle #141: an empty 7x7 board beside the day's rack of 14 letter tiles, with the How to Play panel open: everyone gets the same daily rack, build one connected grid of words, use every tile

Rackle is a free daily word-grid puzzle. Each day gives everyone the same rack of letter tiles, 14 on a recent day, and you place them on a 7x7 board so that every tile is used and all the words connect, crossword style. You have five attempts, and daily scores feed a weekly leaderboard.

About Rackle

Rackle starts from a rack of letter tiles, like a word board game, and asks you to use all of them. You drag tiles onto a 7x7 board to form words that read across and down and join into one connected grid of at least three words. There is no single right answer: any grid that uses every tile and connects is a solution.

You get five attempts at the day's rack. Scoring rewards finishing in fewer attempts, and a Perfect Word bonus goes to a grid that includes one continuous 7-letter word. Your streak, stats and best daily score are kept in the browser.

The puzzle is numbered and changes at midnight UTC, the same for every player. Solving it lets you join that week's leaderboard under a username; replays of old puzzles do not count. Rackle was created by Jay.

It suits players who like building words rather than guessing them, in the spirit of a small daily crossword you design yourself.

How to play Rackle

  1. Open rackle.app to see today's rack of letter tiles.
  2. Drag tiles onto the 7x7 board to spell words across and down.
  3. Connect your words so they form one grid of at least three words.
  4. Use every tile, then submit; you have five attempts.
  5. Share your result and add a username to join the weekly leaderboard.

Tips

  • Look for a 7-letter word in the rack first; it earns the Perfect Word bonus and fills a whole row.
  • Place awkward letters such as J, Q or V early, before the board fills up.
  • Short linking words of two or three letters help join longer words.
