Polygonle
Find a six to eight letter word from a row of coloured shapes, with six guesses.
Every day: One word of six to eight letters a day, the same for everyone, shown as a row of coloured shapes in which matching shapes stand for matching letters; you have six guesses to find it. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone.

Polygonle is a daily word puzzle where the hidden word is drawn as a row of coloured shapes, one per letter, and repeated shapes mean repeated letters. You get six guesses, scored green, yellow and grey as in Wordle, and the shape pattern tells you where the doubled letters go.
About Polygonle
Polygonle takes the Wordle scoring and adds a picture of the answer's letter pattern. The daily word is six to eight letters long and always has at least one repeated letter. Each letter is shown as a coloured shape, so a word like PEOPLE appears as six shapes where the two P tiles match and the two E tiles match.
You may guess any real word of the right length, and the tiles turn green, yellow or grey. Repeated letters are handled carefully: if you guess a word with two Ds and the answer has only one, the second D shows grey, which tells you the count as well as the position.
The daily puzzle changes at midnight in your own time zone, and everyone gets the same word that day. Beside it there is an unlimited mode, a five letter mode, custom puzzles you can make for friends, optional hints, Hard mode (revealed letters must be reused) and Expert mode (every guess must fit the shape pattern). The archive of past daily puzzles is part of Polygonle+, a paid subscription; the daily itself is free.
It suits Wordle players who want a longer word and one more clue to reason with.
How to play Polygonle
- Open polygonle.com and look at the row of shapes: each shape is one letter, and shapes of the same colour and form are the same letter.
- Type any real word that fits the length and press enter.
- Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in the word (or not that many times).
- Use the shape pattern to place repeated letters and narrow your next guess.
- Find the word within six guesses, then share your result or keep your streak going.
Tips
- Start with a filler word that covers common letters; the game's own tips page suggests words like almost, arouse, during and easier for six letters.
- Look first at which shapes repeat: a pair of matching shapes in positions 2 and 5 rules out many words before you type.
- Watch for grey tiles on a second copy of a letter: it means the answer has that letter only once.
- Turn on Expert mode only once you are comfortable; every guess must then match the shape pattern, which can be hard.
Questions
When does the Polygonle puzzle change?

How long are the words?
The daily word is six to eight letters long and always contains at least one repeated letter. A separate five letter mode uses shorter words.
Is Polygonle free?
Yes, the daily puzzle is free and shows ads. Polygonle+ is an optional subscription that opens the archive of past daily puzzles.
What do the shapes mean?
Each shape stands for one letter of the answer. Matching shapes mean the same letter, so the row shows you where letters repeat.
