Pedantle is a daily word game from enigmatix, the maker of Cemantle. The opening of a Wikipedia article is shown with every word blanked out, and each word you guess is revealed wherever it appears. The goal is to work out the page's title, and the game counts how many players found it before you.

About Pedantle

Pedantle hides a Wikipedia page behind blocks: only punctuation and the shape of the text are visible at first. You type words, and every occurrence of a guessed word in the title and text is uncovered. As more of the article appears, the subject becomes clearer, and you win by finding the words of the title.

The page is numbered (day 1598 in early October 2026) and the same for every player, with yesterday's answer shown at the top. When you finish, the game tells you how many players found it before you and in how many guesses, and you can share a summary. There is a history of your guesses and options to reveal the page if you give up.

The game is maintained by enigmatix, who also runs Cemantle and the French versions Cémantix and Pédantix, and draws on data from Google and Wikipedia. It is free and supported by ads.

It suits trivia fans and Wikipedia browsers who like deduction, since common words such as 'is' and 'the' quickly sketch the structure before the real clues appear.
