Redacted is a daily word puzzle set in the fictional town of Caldmere, Massachusetts. Each day brings one document with five words blacked out, and you fill them in from context, with six tries per blank. It is free on the web and iOS, with a premium tier that adds a Sunday cold case.
About Redacted
Redacted gives you one document a day: a police incident report, a coroner's field note, a witness statement and so on, all from the fictional town of Caldmere, Massachusetts. Five words in it have been redacted, and your job is to put them back. Everyone gets the same case on the same date.
The game is published by LFH Labs LLC, and the iOS app is listed under Jason Sullivan. It is part of a small set of games set in the same town, alongside the detective game Daily Sleuth.
For each blank you see the number of letters and the first letter. You get six guesses per word, and letters that are not in the word are crossed off the keyboard. After two wrong guesses you can spend one of three daily tips, each revealing another letter. Cases get harder through the week, from a gentle Monday to a Saturday stamped Brutal; Sunday's cold case is for premium members.
Redacted suits readers who enjoy cloze tests, crime fiction and spotting what a sentence needs. The day's case needs no account; signing in adds the archive, the leaderboard and streaks across devices.
