About Detective Worden

Detective Worden was released on Steam in October 2025 by Domestic Black Cat, published by Studio Amateur. You play private detective Raymond Worden at a desk covered in case files, witness records and a green typewriter. A mysterious informant sends single-word clues; you type guesses on the typewriter and the letters are marked as in Wordle, showing which are in the word and which are in the right place.

There are three modes. Story Mode follows a single case in which each solved word opens the next piece of evidence. Free Mode lets you set word length, difficulty, the number of attempts and a time limit. The Daily Challenge gives a new puzzle every day, described as a chance to compete with detectives around the world on logic and speed, with results on Steam leaderboards.

The game keeps statistics and a history of past answers and has a typewriter interface with matching sound.

It suits Wordle players who want a story around their guesses and fans of noir mysteries.

How to play Detective Worden

1. Choose Daily Challenge from the main menu.
2. Type a guess on the typewriter and press the red button to submit it.
3. Read the colours: letters in the word, and letters in the right place.
4. Solve the word in as few attempts and as quickly as you can, then compare on the leaderboard.
