About Palingrid

Palingrid was published on itch.io in September 2026 by bexmakesgames, and is also played on the maker's own site. The idea comes from a pen and paper game that the maker's mother invented decades ago; she helped develop the browser version and, according to the page, is usually at the top of the leaderboard.

The screen shows a 5x5 grid, a tray of letter tiles below it and a list of the words you have scored. In the example on the itch page, the letters PALIN across and GRID down share the I, and the list credits PAL, LAP, RID, GRID and NIL, so shorter words inside longer ones and words read in reverse both count. Longer words score more points. Buttons beside the grid let you shuffle the tray and work with the tiles.

A bar along the top tracks your score against a series of milestones and shows your best. The goal each day is to see how far along the milestones you can get, and a leaderboard button shows how you compare with other players. The site's own description says vocabulary, palindromes and anagrams all matter.

Palingrid is free to play in the browser. A Reddit community, a Discord server and Twitch streams are linked from the in-game menu.

How to play Palingrid

1. Open Palingrid in your browser.
2. Pick letters from the tray and place them on the 5x5 grid.
3. Build words across and down; words inside other words and words read backwards also score.
4. Watch the score bar and try to pass as many milestones as you can.
5. Check the leaderboard to see how your day compares.

• Palindromes and reversible words such as PAL and LAP score twice from the same tiles.
• Crossing words share letters, so place common letters where two words meet.
• Shuffle the tray when you cannot see a word in it.
