An Orbits round dated 21 April 2026: six empty slots in a loop above the words frame, rate, cut, back, time and talk, with two lives left

Orbits is a daily word puzzle played in a circle. Each round gives you a bank of words that, in the right order, form a closed loop where every word joins the next as a phrase or compound word, like space and out or work and plan. A day brings three rounds, a mini, a main and a longer max.

About Orbits

Orbits is a daily word game created by Andrew Degi. Each puzzle is dated and numbered, and it passed No. 746 in October 2026. The site also makes a Canadian daily, Canuckle.

A day's Orbits has three rounds of 6, 8 and 10 words. The words in each round fit together in a ring: every word pairs with the one after it, either as a common phrase (hands down, stock up) or as a compound word (love and bird making lovebird). Because it is a loop there is no fixed start, so you can begin with whichever pair you are most sure of and build out from there. You have a limited number of lives for wrong submissions.

A drag and drop mode in the settings lets you lay out the whole loop before submitting it. A free account tracks streaks and average times, and supporters get extra themed puzzles.

It suits players who like Connections-style thinking about how words go together, in a format that takes a few minutes.

How to play Orbits

  1. Open playorbits.com and start the day's first round.
  2. Look through the word bank for two words you are sure form a phrase or compound word.
  3. Place words in order around the loop so each joins the next.
  4. Close the loop so the last word also pairs with the first, then submit.
  5. Play the next two rounds, each with more words.

Tips

  • Start with the strongest pair; the loop has no fixed starting point.
  • Some words work on both sides (out can follow space and start outwork), so test each word in both positions.
  • Turn on drag and drop in the settings to try out the whole loop before submitting.
