NumberBang for 6 October 2026: the lead EIGHTY..., a Moderate label, three rows of empty letter boxes with 80 filled in, nine guess dots, Solve and Give Up buttons and a keyboard

NumberBang is a free daily phrase puzzle. Each day's answer is a well-known phrase that contains a number, and the number is the only part you see at first, written in figures in its spot. You guess letters to uncover the rest, and the fewer guesses you use the higher you score.

About NumberBang

NumberBang's tagline is follow the numbers, find the phrase. Every puzzle is a familiar saying, title or expression with a number in it. The day's puzzle opens with the date, a short lead such as EIGHTY..., a difficulty label like Moderate, and rows of empty boxes for each word, with the number already filled in.

You tap letters on the keyboard to reveal where they appear, as in hangman, and a row of dots shows how many guesses you have left. When you think you know the phrase you press Solve and type it, or you can Give Up. Using fewer guesses gives a better score, which you can share.

The game uses US English spelling by default and lets you change that in settings. An Old Puzzles section keeps earlier days to play, and there are stats and trophies to track your streak.

It suits players who like Wheel of Fortune style phrase puzzles and enjoy spotting sayings from a single clue.

Tips

  • Think of phrases with that number before guessing a single letter; the word lengths narrow it fast.
  • Common letters like E, T and S fill in the most boxes early.
  • Solve as soon as you are fairly sure, since every extra letter costs score.
