Huewords
A game of words, colours and logic.
Every day: One numbered daily puzzle, the same for everyone: a small crossing word grid divided into coloured regions, where you know which letters belong to each colour and must deduce where they go so every word reads true. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

Huewords is a daily word-logic puzzle by Juho Snellman. A 5x5 grid of crossing words is split into coloured regions; you are given one word and the letters that belong to each colour, and you deduce where every letter goes until all the words are complete. Random puzzles in three sizes are there for more.
About Huewords
Huewords is a word puzzle with a logic core, designed and written by Juho Snellman. The board is a small grid of crossing words, about 5x5, split into coloured areas, with a few blank holes. You are told one of the words, and below the grid you get the letters sorted into groups, one group for each colour. Every letter of a group has to go somewhere in its own colour, so the puzzle is working out which cell each letter belongs in.
The daily puzzle is numbered and the same for everyone, and it changes at midnight UTC. You start by placing the given word, then use the colour rules and the crossings to narrow down the rest: a colour with only two cells left and two letters in its pool has to take them, and a letter that fits one across word may break the down word. Letters can be dragged into place, tapped or typed, and there are undo, reset and hint buttons when you get stuck. When you finish you can share the result.
It feels closer to a logic grid than to Wordle, since there is no guessing against a hidden answer, only deduction. It suits people who like crosswords, Waffle and sudoku-style reasoning. A short tutorial and random puzzles in Small, Medium and Large sizes are there for practice, and an optional account keeps statistics.
How to play Huewords
- Open Huewords and choose Daily Puzzle (the game suggests trying a Small puzzle first if you are new).
- Place the given word in the grid.
- Look at the letter groups: each group's letters must all go into cells of the matching colour.
- Use the crossing words and the colours to work out where each remaining letter goes, dragging, tapping or typing it in.
- Fill every cell so all the words across and down are real, then share your result.
Tips
- Start with colours that have few cells: they often have only one way to be filled.
- Every cell belongs to an across word and a down word, so check both before placing a letter.
- Rare letters such as K, P or H narrow things fast, so place them early.
- Use Hint rather than guessing if you are stuck; Undo lets you step back.
