Flip (Hemiscope)

Tap tiles to switch them and their neighbours off, in as few taps as par.

Every day: Three numbered tile-flipping boards a day, easy to hard, the same for everyone: each tap flips a tile and its four neighbours, and you clear the board in as few taps as par. New puzzle: Once a day; daily #2 was the board for 3 October 2026.

Hemiscope Flip daily #2, board 1 of 3 (Easy): a 5x5 grid with orange lit tiles and pale unlit ones, 0 taps against a par of 3, with Undo, Reset and Show me which to tap

Flip is Hemiscope's daily take on the Lights Out puzzle. Each day brings three boards, from easy to hard, where a tap flips a tile and the four next to it; the aim is to turn every tile off. Each board has a par, the fewest taps it can be solved in, and matching it earns a green square.

About Flip (Hemiscope)

Flip is a tile puzzle from Hemiscope, the site of daily geography games, and the first of its dailies that has nothing to do with maps. It is the old Lights Out idea on a 5x5 board: some tiles are lit, and tapping one switches it and the tiles directly above, below, left and right of it. You win a board when every tile is off.

There are three boards a day, the same for every player and rising from easy to hard, with the day's number at the top. Each board shows your tap count next to its par, the smallest number of taps that clears it. Clearing at par gives a green square for that board, so a perfect day is three greens.

Because tapping the same tile twice undoes it, order never matters, only which tiles you tap. Undo and Reset are always there, and a Show me which to tap button gives the answer away if you are stuck. You can play with the mouse or with the arrow keys, Space to flip and U to undo, and a Practice tab offers more boards outside the daily.

Flip suits players who like short, pure logic puzzles with a score to beat, and Hemiscope regulars who want a break from countries.

How to play Flip (Hemiscope)

  1. Open Flip and stay on the Daily tab.
  2. Look at the lit tiles on the 5x5 board and the par for the board.
  3. Tap a tile to flip it and the four tiles next to it.
  4. Keep tapping until every tile is off, trying to match par.
  5. Move on to the next board; the day has three, from easy to hard.

Tips

  • Tapping a tile twice cancels out, so each tile needs at most one tap.
  • The order of taps does not matter, only which tiles you choose.
  • Clear the top rows first, then use the bottom row to finish: lit tiles left in a row are fixed by tapping the tiles below them.
  • Use Practice to get a feel for patterns before the hard board.
