Chessolo (Puzzleship)
One white piece clears the board, becoming whatever it captures.
Every day: Six numbered boards a day, from very easy to ultra hard and the same for everyone: clear the board with one white piece that turns into whatever it captures; past days are in an archive. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone, as the site states.

Chessolo is a solitaire chess puzzle with one white piece against a board of black ones. Each capture turns your piece into the type you took, so the order of captures decides what you can reach next. Each board has a par.
About Chessolo (Puzzleship)
Capture a knight and you move like a knight; capture a rook and you slide in straight lines. Movement follows normal chess rules for whatever you currently are, every black piece is a target, and the puzzle ends when the board is clear.
The challenge is the chain. Trading a queen's reach for a pawn's can strand targets that are still in plain sight. A good approach is to find the most awkward target first, work out which piece type could reach it, and plan the sequence that makes you that piece at the right moment. Its sibling Chess Takes lets any piece take any other instead.
Puzzleship publishes six boards of Chessolo a day, graded from very easy to ultra hard. Each day's boards are numbered and dated, the same for every player, and appear at midnight in your own time zone; earlier days stay playable in the archive. The site is free with ads, and a premium plan removes them.
How to play Chessolo (Puzzleship)
- Open Chessolo and pick one of the day's six boards.
- Look at your white piece and the black pieces it can capture.
- Capture a piece; you become that piece type.
- Plan each capture so you can still reach the remaining targets.
- Clear the board, aiming to match the par.
Tips
- Plan which piece you need to be at each step, not which target is nearest.
- Avoid captures that leave you with too little reach.
- Solve for the most isolated target first.
- Knights and queens keep options open; pawns rarely do.
