Griddable is a grid-building word game played over sixteen rounds: each round you put one letter into a 4x4 grid, trying to spell words left to right and top to bottom. In the Daily Game half the letters are the day's shared sequence and you pick the rest, aiming for the maximum of 32 points and a place on the daily leaderboard.

About Griddable

Griddable is a British word game, launched in 2025, that began as a turn-taking game for two and added a single-player Daily Game that everyone plays with the same letters.

A game lasts sixteen rounds, one for each square of a 4x4 grid. In half the rounds you are handed a letter and must decide where it goes; in the other half you choose the letter yourself and then place it. Once a letter is down it stays, so the game is about planning: keeping room for a word you hope to finish while not stranding the letters you are given.

Scoring is simple. Each row and each column scores its best word, one point per letter, so a full grid of four-letter words in every line scores the maximum 32. Only one word counts per line: a row reading BRAT scores four for BRAT, not extra for BRA, RAT or AT. In the Daily Game, the eight letters you are given are the same for every player that day, which makes the scores comparable on the daily leaderboard, and scoring 20 or more keeps your streak alive.

The two-player mode works the same way, except that you and an opponent alternate choosing letters, so you both end up with the same sixteen letters in different grids. It suits players who like Scrabble-style planning more than guessing.

How to play Griddable

  1. Start the Daily Game: you will play sixteen rounds, one letter per round, into an empty 4x4 grid.
  2. When the round gives you a letter, choose a square for it and submit; it cannot be moved later.
  3. When it is your turn to choose, pick any letter and place it.
  4. Build words left to right and top to bottom; each row and column scores its best word, one point per letter.
  5. After round sixteen, see your score out of 32 and where it ranks on the day's leaderboard.

Tips

  • Keep awkward letters such as J, Q and Z for corners where they need to fit only one word.
  • Plan a few four-letter words early and use your own letter choices to complete them.
  • Vowels in the middle squares serve both a row and a column.
