Champions League Grid (Futbolle)
Rate itName a footballer who played for both clubs, using only this season's Champions League teams.
Every day: One numbered 3x3 board a day built from six clubs in the current Champions League league phase, the same six for every player that day. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone.

Champions League Grid is Futbolle's daily 3x3 football grid limited to the 36 clubs in this season's Champions League league phase. Three clubs sit across the top and three down the side, and each cell wants a player who turned out for both. You get nine guesses, and a new board arrives at your local midnight.
About Champions League Grid (Futbolle)
Champions League Grid is one of the daily football games on Futbolle. It plays like Futbolle's Football Grid, but the six clubs on each board are drawn only from the teams in the current season's Champions League league phase. The list comes from UEFA's confirmed line-up each season, so a club that missed out this year drops out of the pool and clubs still in qualifying never enter it.
Each day's board is numbered (puzzle #95 fell on 17 October 2026) and is generated from the date, so everyone sees the same six clubs. Every cell is checked to have at least one valid answer before the board goes out. You type a player's name into the search box, pick him from the suggestions, and if he played for both clubs of a free cell he drops into it by himself. A guess that fits nowhere is still spent, and the round ends when the grid is full or your nine guesses are gone.
What counts is a player's whole senior career as listed on Wikipedia, loan spells included and youth football not. The player does not need to have played a Champions League match for either club, only to have played for them at some point. Each footballer can be used once per board. Your score is the number of cells you filled, and when the round ends each empty cell shows one possible answer.
Because the pool is this season's European elite, the answers tend to be players who moved between big clubs rather than between divisions, which makes it a different hunt from the open Football Grid. The two games keep separate boards and progress, so you can play both each day. It is free, needs no sign-up, and the site can be read in English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian.
How to play Champions League Grid (Futbolle)
- Read the club at the start of a row and the club at the top of a column: the cell where they meet needs a player who played for both.
- Type a footballer's name in the search box; suggestions appear after two letters.
- Pick the player from the list; if he fits a free cell, he drops into it automatically.
- If he fits no cell the guess is still used, so think before you pick.
- Keep going until all nine cells are filled or your nine guesses run out, then see a possible answer for every cell you missed.

Tips
- Think of former players, not current squads: anyone who ever played for both clubs counts, loans included.
- Follow the usual transfer routes, such as Porto or Benfica to England and Ajax or PSV to Spain.
- Turkish clubs like Galatasaray signed many well-known European players late in their careers, so their cells are often easier than they look.
- Save a player who fits several cells for the one where you have no other name.
Questions
What time does Champions League Grid reset?
A new board arrives at midnight in your own time zone, and everyone gets the same six clubs that day.
Which clubs can appear?
Only the 36 teams in the current season's Champions League league phase, taken from UEFA's participant list at the start of each season.
Does the player need to have played in the Champions League for those clubs?
No. Playing for both clubs at any point of a senior career is enough, loan spells included.
How is it different from Futbolle's Football Grid?
The rules are the same, but the club pool is limited to this season's Champions League teams. The two games have separate boards, so you can play both.
