Flag Connections is a daily puzzle from Flagdoku that puts sixteen national flags on a board and asks you to sort them into groups of four. Each puzzle is numbered and built around a Flag of the Day, and you can make four mistakes. Past puzzles sit in an archive.
About Flag Connections (Flagdoku)
Flag Connections is one of the flag games on Flagdoku, played in the browser. It follows the NYT Connections format with flags in place of words: sixteen flags, each labelled with its country or territory, and the job of finding the groups of four that belong together.
The twist is the Flag of the Day shown at the top. The instructions ask you to group four flags that share something unique with it, so the day's flag is the starting point for working out the links. On puzzle #110 the Flag of the Day was Comoros, and the board held flags such as Nepal, Guinea-Bissau, Vanuatu, Cuba, Pakistan and Brazil. You select four, press Submit, and lose one of four mistake dots for a wrong group.
There is a hint button, a shuffle button and a settings menu with dark mode. The archive lists past puzzles by season, coloured by whether you have finished, started or failed them, with a random pick and a stats view.
How to play Flag Connections (Flagdoku)
- Look at the Flag of the Day and the sixteen flags below it.
- Select four flags you think share the same feature.
- Press Submit; a wrong group costs one of your four mistakes.
- Keep going until all four groups are found, using a hint if you are stuck.
Tips
- Study the Flag of the Day closely: its colours, symbols and layout point to the groups.
- Look for features rather than places, such as a star, a crescent, a triangle at the hoist or a coat of arms.
- Use the shuffle button to see the flags in a new order when the grid starts to blur.
