Geonections
Sort sixteen locations into four groups of four, Connections-style.
Every day: One numbered puzzle a day, the same for everyone: sixteen location tiles to sort into four groups of four, with five mistakes allowed. New puzzle: Midnight UTC (the puzzle number follows the UTC date).

Geonections is a daily geography take on Connections. You look through sixteen location tiles, work out what links them, and select them in sets of four, with five mistakes allowed; you can also name the country of each group. Easy, hard, expert and theme versions and an archive of past puzzles are available.
About Geonections
Geonections is a daily geography puzzle that borrows the format of Connections. Instead of words you get sixteen location tiles, street-level views in the style of GeoGuessr, and your job is to sort them into four groups of four by what links them, usually the country they are in. You open a tile to look around, pick the four you think belong together and submit the set.
The standard daily gives you five mistakes before the game ends, and after grouping you can also name the country behind each set. The puzzle is numbered by the UTC date, so everyone plays the same board each day, and there is an archive of past days.
It comes in several flavours. An Easy mode gives unlimited mistakes, optional country guesses and a hint on each wrong try; Normal is the default; and an Expert mode tightens it to three mistakes, asks for all four groups at once and includes a blind tile. The daily difficulty also ramps across the week, easiest on Monday and hardest by Sunday. An optional Discord login saves your progress and account.
It is aimed at experienced GeoGuessr players who can read a landscape, road signs, vegetation and architecture to place a location, though the easy puzzles are a gentler way in.
How to play Geonections
- Open geonections.com to load the day's sixteen location tiles.
- Click a tile to look around the street-level view, using fullscreen to see more detail.
- Decide which four locations share a country or theme and select them.
- Submit a group of four; you have five mistakes in the standard game.
- Sort all sixteen into four groups, name each group's country when asked, then share your result.
Tips
- Read the landscape, road markings, signage language and architecture to place each tile before grouping.
- Start with the groups you are most sure of to cut the board down and protect your mistakes.
- If you are new to this, switch to Easy in the top right for unlimited mistakes and hints, or play a Monday puzzle.
- Use fullscreen on a tricky tile; a single road sign or plate can settle which country it is.
