fata daily quiz, Rust Easy: a short Rust program with a compiler error E0614, type f64 cannot be dereferenced, and the instruction to tap the line causing it, with Code and Tests tabs and a timer

fata is a daily programming quiz for working developers. Each day there is a new quiz for each topic and difficulty, from CSS to Rust, made of short questions on real code: tap the line that causes an error, read the tests, and move on against a timer. Your result can be shared as a code.

About fata Daily (programming quiz)

fata calls itself full-stack fundamentals for professional developers: real code, short sessions and a new quiz every day. Its maker launched it on Show HN in September 2026 as a five-minute daily habit against the skill rot that comes from leaning on coding assistants.

Before you start you choose a topic and a difficulty, for example CSS Easy, TypeScript Medium or Rust Easy, and that day's quiz for the pair is the same for everyone who picks it. A quiz is a run of about ten short questions with a progress bar and a clock. One question shows a compiler error, such as Rust's E0614 for dereferencing an f64, beside a short program and its tests, and asks you to tap the line that causes it. Others ask about output or behaviour in the same hands-on way.

At the end you get a row of squares for right and wrong answers and your time, with a link that encodes your result, so colleagues can compare on the same quiz. No login is needed, and the interface is available in English and French.

Tips

  • Read the error message and its line and column first; they usually point straight at the culprit.
  • Check the Tests tab to see what the code is meant to do before deciding what is wrong.
  • Pick a language you use at work for a quick daily check, and an unfamiliar one when you have time to learn.
