Daily Mind Challenge: the board of Daily Sudoku #47, a 9x9 grid with its timer and error count

Daily Mind Challenge is a free web site with four daily puzzles: a five-letter word guess, a Sudoku, a word search and a sixteen-word grouping puzzle. Everyone gets the same four on the same date, each solve earns points for speed and accuracy, and the totals feed a public leaderboard. You can play as a guest with no sign-up.

About Daily Mind Challenge

Daily Mind Challenge puts four familiar puzzle types on one site and gives each a Daily Challenge: a Wordle-style word, a Sudoku, a Word Search and a Connections-style grouping puzzle. The daily puzzles are numbered, the same for every player on a given calendar date, and unlock at midnight on your own device rather than at one global hour.

The daily word gives you six tries to find a five-letter word, with green, yellow and gray tiles. If you miss, the word stays hidden and you can try the same word again after a one-hour wait, as many times as you like until the day ends. The Sudoku is a classic 9x9 grid with a timer that starts on your first cell and an error count; mistakes cost points but do not end the puzzle, and there is no hint button. The word search asks you to drag across the grid to find every hidden word, and the grouping puzzle asks you to sort sixteen words into four groups of four with four mistakes allowed, colour-coded from straightforward yellow to tricky purple.

What sets it apart from playing the four games separately is the scoring. Every solved daily puzzle earns points for finishing plus bonuses for speed and accuracy, and the points add up on a leaderboard you can view by game or overall, for today, the week, the month, the year or all time. Guests can play and appear on the leaderboard; a free account adds streaks, XP, rank and achievements.

Beyond the daily puzzles there are Classic modes for Sudoku, Word Search and the grouping game at Easy, Medium or Hard, timed Tournament runs of several puzzles in a row, and a Challenge a Friend mode for the word game where you pick a word and share a link. The site carries ads. It suits players who already do a word guess and a Sudoku every morning and want them in one place with a score to chase.

How to play Daily Mind Challenge

  1. Open dailymindchallenge.com and pick one of today's puzzles: Wordle, Sudoku, Word Search or Connections.
  2. Press Sign In to Play, then continue as a guest with a display name or log in to a free account.
  3. Word guess: type a five-letter word and press Enter; green means right letter in the right place, yellow means the letter is elsewhere in the word, gray means it is not in the word. You have six tries.
  4. Sudoku: tap a cell, then tap a number, until every row, column and 3x3 box holds 1 to 9 once each.
  5. Word Search: drag in a straight line from a word's first letter to its last to mark each hidden word.
  6. Connections: select four words you think share a link and press Submit; find all four groups before your four mistakes run out.
  7. Check the leaderboard to see your points for the day against other players.

Tips

  • The Sudoku timer only starts when you select your first cell, so read the grid over before you begin.
  • Wrong numbers in the daily Sudoku cost accuracy points but do not end the puzzle, so correct them and keep going.
  • A missed daily word can be tried again after one hour, but points only come when you solve it.
  • In the grouping puzzle, look for words with two meanings first; they are usually what makes one group overlap another.
  • Make a free account if you want your streak counted; guests earn points but no streaks.

Questions

When do the Daily Mind Challenge puzzles reset?

At midnight on your own device. Everyone gets the same puzzles on the same calendar date, but the hour the new ones appear depends on your time zone.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play every daily puzzle as a guest under a display name and still earn points and appear on the leaderboard. A free account adds streaks, XP, rank and achievements, and lets you create challenges.

Is Daily Mind Challenge free?

Yes. All four daily puzzles and the extra modes are free to play; the site shows ads.

Can I play more than one puzzle a day?

The Daily Challenge in each game is one puzzle a day, but Sudoku, Word Search and Connections have Classic modes at Easy, Medium and Hard that you can replay as often as you like, and every game has timed Tournament runs.
