Booktokdle's Portadas game in English for 5 Oct 2026: 'The book of the day' with a blurred book cover to identify and five guesses

Booktokdle is a set of six daily book games built on one catalogue of popular novels, from classics to BookTok favourites. Each day brings a new book to name from a blurred cover, emojis or a quote, plus challenges that compare sales and order books by year.

About Booktokdle

Booktokdle is a daily guessing site for readers. Its main game, Portadas, shows a heavily blurred book cover and gives you five guesses to name the novel; each wrong guess brings the cover into sharper focus. The other games use the same catalogue in different ways: a book told only in emojis, a famous quote to place, a head-to-head on which of two books sold more, a set of books to put in order by year of publication, and a time trial.

Every challenge changes once a day, at midnight in Madrid, and every player gets the same one. An archive lets you go back to earlier days. The site can be played in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German and Italian from its settings, and offers light, dark and sepia themes. There are no accounts yet: your results are kept in your browser.

The catalogue leans towards books that are popular on BookTok, alongside well-known classics, so it suits readers who follow what is being talked about as much as those who know the canon.

How to play Booktokdle

  1. Open Booktokdle, choose your language in Configuration, and pick a game.
  2. In Portadas, look at the blurred cover and type the title you think it is.
  3. Each wrong guess sharpens the cover; you have five guesses in all.
  4. Try the other games for the day: emojis, quotes, sales, years and the time trial.
  5. Come back after midnight Madrid time for a new set.

Tips

  • Colours and layout often give away the genre before the title does: romance and fantasy covers look very different even when blurred.
  • Use the catalogue page to see the kind of books the game draws from.
  • Missed a day? The archive keeps earlier puzzles.
