A Bonza puzzle with the clue 'Eye of the...' and letter fragments to arrange into a crossword

Bonza Word Puzzle mixes a crossword, a jigsaw and a trivia question. Each puzzle gives one theme clue and a handful of letter fragments, and you drag them together until they form a small crossword of words that match the clue. New Daily Puzzles, made by the Bonza community, arrive every day.

About Bonza Word Puzzle

Bonza is a mobile word game from the Australian studio Minimega, released in 2014 and named in the App Store's best of 2014. Instead of filling squares, you get a crossword that has been broken into pieces: short blocks of letters scattered over the screen. A single clue such as 'Eye of the...' tells you what the answers have in common, and you slide the blocks around until they lock together into words that fit the theme.

The daily section brings new puzzles each day, written by players with the built-in puzzle creator and picked for the day. Reviews from 2026 mention dated daily puzzles with their own titles and a choice of puzzles each day, so players can pick a theme they know.

Besides the dailies there are themed packs of puzzles and a creator to build your own Bonza and send it to friends. The game is free with ads and in-app purchases.

It suits crossword players who like trivia and lateral thinking, and anyone who enjoys moving pieces with a finger more than typing.

How to play Bonza Word Puzzle

  1. Open the Daily Puzzles section and pick today's puzzle.
  2. Read the clue at the top: every word in the solution fits it.
  3. Drag the letter fragments around; pieces that fit together snap into place.
  4. Join all fragments into one connected crossword to solve the puzzle.

Tips

  • Look for pieces that start or end a word, such as one ending in ING or starting with a capital-worthy name.
  • Think of answers that fit the clue first, then find the fragments that spell them.
  • Pieces can only be joined where the letters form real words in both directions.
