WordWavr game screen: an orange guess wave over the blue target wave, with guesses WAVER, SUSHI and UNMET and their match percentages

WordWavr is a daily word game where the hidden word is drawn as a wave instead of a row of tiles. Each letter has a value, so every five-letter word makes its own curve, and you guess words until your wave lands on the target. You get six guesses, and a similarity score tells you how close each one is.

About WordWavr

WordWavr turns the daily five-letter word into a line graph. Each letter is given a value, and the five values of the hidden word are joined into a smooth wave drawn across the screen. Everyone gets the same numbered word each day, with a new one at midnight, in English or in a Swedish edition.

You type a real five-letter word and its own wave is drawn over the target, along with a percentage showing how closely the shapes match. There are no green or yellow letters: you read the curve. If your first and last points match but the middle sags, you know which letters to change. The game ends when your wave lands exactly on the target, or after six guesses.

Settings let you switch the on-screen keyboard between QWERTY and alphabetical order, which helps when thinking in letter values. Hard mode applies a hidden daily shift to the letter values, so the usual mapping no longer holds. There is also a random wave for practice, plus stats, streaks and achievements kept in your browser.

It suits Wordle players who want a different kind of clue, and anyone who likes reading graphs. No account is needed.

How to play WordWavr

  1. Open wordwavr.app and press Play for today's numbered wave.
  2. Type a five-letter word and submit it.
  3. Compare your wave with the target and note the similarity percentage.
  4. Change letters whose points sit too high or too low, then guess again.
  5. Match the wave exactly within six guesses, then share your result.

Tips

  • Switch the keyboard to alphabetical order so it is easier to see which letters sit higher or lower.
  • Fix one end of the wave at a time; the first and last points are often the easiest to pin down.
  • Try Hard mode once the normal letter values feel familiar.
