WordPyramid
Rate itClimb the day's word pyramid: each answer is the last word plus one letter.
Every day: One daily pyramid for everyone: a series of clues whose answers each add one letter to the previous word and use all its letters, with some clues cryptic and one attempt to check each answer. New puzzle: Once a day.

WordPyramid is a daily clue-solving game. Each level gives a crossword-style clue, and the answer is one letter longer than the previous one and uses all its letters. Some clues are cryptic, and Hint and First Letter lifelines cost points.
About WordPyramid
WordPyramid builds a pyramid of words from the top down. The first clue leads to a short word; the next answer must be one letter longer and contain every letter of the first, and so on down the levels shown in the progress panel. Clues are written like crossword clues, and the ones in italics are cryptic; an i button explains how to approach a cryptic clue.
You type each answer on the on-screen keyboard and get only one attempt to check it, so it pays to be sure. You can skip a clue and come back to it, and two lifelines help when stuck: Hint and First Letter, each costing two points. Give up reveals the answer. The aim is the highest score you can make, and the site tracks your stats and awards achievements.
A tutorial walks new players through the rules, and a Cryptic Archive of random cryptic clues is available from the menu. A flag button switches the game's language. WordPyramid is free in the browser.
How to play WordPyramid
- Open word-pyramid.com and read the first clue (play the tutorial if you are new).
- Type the answer on the keyboard and press Enter; you get one attempt to check it.
- For the next clue, find a word one letter longer that uses all the letters of the last answer.
- Use Hint or First Letter if stuck, or skip and come back later.
- Work down the pyramid and aim for as many points as possible.

Tips
- Write down the previous answer's letters: the next word must use all of them plus one.
- Treat italic clues as cryptic: look for a definition at one end and wordplay in the rest.
- Skip a hard level; a later, longer answer can help you work back.
- Save lifelines for the long words at the bottom, where they help most.
