Raddle
A daily word ladder solved with clues, from one word to another.
Every day: One numbered word ladder a day, the same for everyone: get from the start word to the end word (STRIKE to OUT) through a chain of steps, each step found by matching a clue such as 'drop the first letter' or 'anagram and add an M'. New puzzle: Once a day, with a new dated puzzle.

Raddle is a daily word transformation puzzle by Sandy Weisz. You are given a first and last word and a pile of clues; each clue turns one rung of the ladder into the next, by changing, adding or dropping letters, anagramming or linking phrases. Work out which clue fits each step to complete the ladder, often around a weekly theme.
About Raddle
Raddle is a daily word puzzle by Sandy Weisz, published under The Mystery League, which also makes puzzle hunts and team games. Each puzzle is numbered and dated (No. 585 fell on 2 October 2026), and puzzles often come in themed weeks: that week's ladders were built on baseball idioms, each with a short note on where the phrase comes from.
Every Raddle is a ladder. You see the top word and the bottom word, and the rungs between them are blank, with only their letter counts shown. Beside the ladder sits a list of clues, one per step, but not in ladder order. A clue might ask you to drop a letter, change one, anagram and add a letter, find a word hidden at the start or end, or fill in a common phrase. You have to work out which clue turns the current word into the next one and type the answer.
The list shrinks as you go, so the puzzle gets a little easier with each step. You can also solve from the bottom up, where the clues are reworded so you work backwards. A lightbulb hint first tells you which clue fits a step and, if pressed again, reveals the word. Scoring gives 5 points for a step solved alone, 2 if you needed the clue, and none if the word was revealed. Past puzzles are in an archive grouped by theme, and an account keeps your progress.
It suits players who enjoy word ladders and cryptic-style wordplay and like a puzzle with a story behind the answer.
How to play Raddle
- Open raddle.quest; new players can take the short tutorial first.
- Read the top word, then scan the clue list for the one that transforms it.
- Type the next word in the empty rung; a correct answer moves on and marks the clue used.
- Keep going down the ladder, or switch to solving from the bottom up.
- Use the lightbulb only when stuck: once to learn the right clue, twice to reveal the word.
Tips
- Clues with a blank, like a phrase to complete, are easiest to place first.
- Letter counts on each rung rule out many clues at a glance.
- When stuck halfway, solve upward from the bottom word and meet in the middle.
