Lessgames wordmark

Spelling Bee on Lessgames is a classic spelling bee as a daily game. You are given a word to spell, with its definition, a sentence using it and its origin to help, and the words get progressively harder. Your result is how many of the day's words you spelled correctly.

About Spelling Bee (Lessgames)

This Spelling Bee is not the honeycomb puzzle of the same name but the school contest: you are asked to spell words. It is one of the daily games on Lessgames, the site behind Songless and Moreless.

Each day has one set of words, the same for everyone, and they get progressively harder. For each word you can call up its definition, a sentence that uses it and its origin, as a speller would in a real bee. You type your spelling and the game checks it. At the end you share a score of how many words you got right out of the day's total, with a fire for a perfect round.

An archive lets you play earlier days, and your solve rate and all-time average are tracked.

It suits strong spellers, word lovers and anyone who remembers the tension of a school spelling bee.

How to play Spelling Bee (Lessgames)

  1. Open the day's Spelling Bee.
  2. Ask for the definition, an example sentence or the word's origin if you need help.
  3. Type your spelling of the word and submit it.
  4. Move on to the next, harder word.
  5. See how many of the day's words you spelled correctly.

Tips

  • Use the origin: Greek, Latin and French roots follow their own spelling patterns.
  • Read the example sentence to be sure which word is meant.
