About Setaccio (Cruciverba Lab)

Setaccio, meaning sieve, is the daily word search on Cruciverba Lab, an Italian site of free puzzles. In Italy the format is known as crucipuzzle or parole nascoste.

Each day there is a new 10x10 grid hiding ten words linked by a theme, which is shown above the grid, for example drinks. Words run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, forwards or backwards, and you drag across the letters to take one; dragging the wrong way along a word still counts. Wrong drags cost nothing.

Each word found is worth 30 points, and finishing all ten adds a bonus of up to 700 that is full within a minute and halves every two minutes after that, so a perfect day is worth 1000. A hint reveals a hidden word but that word scores nothing and the bonus drops by a quarter; free accounts get one hint a day and Premium two. Today's grid is open to everyone without an account, the last three need a free account, and older ones need Premium.

It can be played with arrows and Enter as well as a mouse. It suits Italian speakers who want a quick, timed word search with a leaderboard.

How to play Setaccio (Cruciverba Lab)

1. Open Setaccio and read today's theme above the grid.
2. Find a hidden word and drag across its letters in a straight line.
3. Words can run in any of eight directions, forwards or backwards.
4. Find all ten words; the faster you finish, the bigger the bonus.
5. Sign in to use a hint or appear on the leaderboard.

Tips

• Use the theme to guess likely words, then hunt for their first letters.
• Wrong drags are free, so try a line whenever you suspect a word.
• The bonus halves every two minutes, so leave the hardest word until the rest are done.
