RL Player Hunt is a daily NRL guessing game with two hunts each day: an Easy one for long-serving players who debuted after 2000 and a Hard one reaching back to 1990. You start from a seed player and turn every guess into clues about team, position, games, tries, debut, last season and premierships.

About RL Player Hunt

RL Player Hunt is an Australian daily guessing game for rugby league fans. Each day has two hunts, which change at 17:00 UTC, 3 a.m. in Brisbane. The Easy hunt draws from players who debuted after 2000 and played more than 100 games; the Hard hunt draws from anyone who debuted from 1990 and played more than 20 games.

Every hunt starts with a seed player card already on the board. Each card shows a player's main team, the state that team is based in, position type and position, number of teams, games, tries, debut year, final year and premierships, with a tick, a cross or an arrow against each one. The clues are then gathered into a sentence at the top, for example played the majority of games for a club based in NSW, played more than 155 games, debuted 2011, won 0 premierships. You pick your next player from a list that you can filter by team or name, and the clues tighten until you find him or use up your ten guesses.

The score rewards using few clues first and finishing quickly second, and each hunt has a leaderboard. The front page shows each hunt's difficulty rating, percent correct, average clues and average time for the day against the long-run average, and arrows step back to earlier days.

It suits NRL followers who know career records as well as current squads: the Easy hunt is a quick daily check, while the Hard hunt asks for journeymen from the 1990s and 2000s. A free account is needed only for the leaderboard; the site carries ads.

How to play RL Player Hunt

  1. Open rlplayerhunt.com.au and choose Play Easy Hunt or Play Hard Hunt.
  2. Read the seed player card and the clue sentence it produces: ticks are matches, crosses are misses and arrows show whether the answer's number is higher or lower.
  3. Pick a player from the Select a Player list, filtering by team or name.

Tips

  • Use the team filter once the state and main team clues line up, so the list only shows that club's players.
  • Debut and final year together give a career window; combined with games played they rule out most names.
  • In the Hard hunt, think of players with short careers and several clubs: the pool reaches back to 1990 and only needs 20 games.
  • Fewer clues ranks above a faster time, so take a moment over each guess.
