Phrasicle
Chain two-word phrases across the grid, then crack the final saying.
Every day: One puzzle a day, the same for everyone: rows of linked two-word phrases (paper clip, clip board, board game) with the ends given, and then a common saying built from the words you uncovered. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time.

Phrasicle is a daily phrase-chain puzzle. Each row runs from a given first word to a given last word through three missing words, each pair making a two-word phrase. Fill the grid, then use its words to build the day's Phrasicle, a common saying, earning gold, silver or bronze by how few clues you needed.
About Phrasicle
Phrasicle has published a puzzle every day since April 2025, the same for every player and free with no account. It is a word-chain game: every adjacent pair of words in a row forms a familiar two-word phrase.
Each row gives you its first and last words and three blanks between them. In the example from the rules, PAPER and the end word are given, and the chain runs PAPER CLIP, CLIP BOARD, BOARD GAME, GAME PLAN, so the gaps are CLIP, BOARD and GAME. Several rows fill the grid, and once they are solved you use words from it to build the final Phrasicle, a common turn of phrase such as ONE STEP AT A TIME, with a short note on what it means and where it comes from.
You have ten clues to spend. Using three or fewer earns gold, four to six silver, and seven or more, or revealing the grid, bronze. An optional extra-hints setting shows the first letter of every word and the letter counts, without changing the puzzle. Past days are in an archive, and the same site runs Common Ground, a Connections-style daily built on phrases, and Missing Link, an endless mode.
It suits players who like compound words and sayings, and who enjoy a puzzle with a payoff at the end.
How to play Phrasicle
- Read the first row: its first and last words are given, with three blanks between.
- Fill each blank so every neighbouring pair makes a two-word phrase, such as PAPER CLIP and CLIP BOARD.
- Solve the remaining rows the same way, spending clues if you are stuck.
- Use words from the finished grid to build the day's Phrasicle, a common saying, and submit it.
- Earn gold for three clues or fewer, silver for four to six, bronze otherwise, and share your result.
Tips
- Work from both ends of a row: the last word often narrows the middle more than the first.
- Guess the final saying early; it can tell you which words belong in the grid.
- Turn on extra hints if you prefer: the puzzle and the medals stay the same.
