Futbolle Missing 11 #84: England's starting eleven against the Czech Republic at Euro 2020 on a pitch, eight player cards with photos and three hidden gold shirts numbered 9, 10 and 4

Missing 11, also called Missing XI, is a free daily football quiz on Futbolle. Each day shows the real starting lineup of one team from a match that was played, in its formation and with shirt numbers, with three names hidden. You have six guesses to name the missing players.

About Missing 11 (Futbolle)

Missing 11 is one of Futbolle's daily football games. Each puzzle is numbered and dated, and shows one team's starting eleven from one real match: the formation on a pitch, the shirt numbers, the match and score, and eight named players with photos. Three slots show a question mark.

You tap a hidden card and type a name. Any correct name for any of the hidden cards counts, even if you tapped a different slot, so the game asks you to remember the players rather than place them. You have six guesses for the three names. The search ignores accents and capitals, and uses the name a player is commonly known by.

The pool holds 256 lineups, all taken from official match reports on Wikipedia: great finals such as Istanbul 2005 and the 2014 World Cup final, and every match from the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 and AFCON 2023, group games included. A lineup does not come back for months. Your result is how many of the three you found and how many guesses it took, shared as a spoiler-free summary.

It suits football fans with a long memory for tournaments, and anyone who can picture a team sheet from a famous night.

Tips

  • Identify the match first; once you know it, the three names often come together.
  • Read the shirt numbers: a hidden 9 is usually the centre-forward.
  • Read the eight visible names as a group; they often only overlap in one squad at one time.
