Daily Worder publishes a small family of word puzzles that are new every morning and free to play, including Fourbe, Pyramid and Invertle. Invertle's tagline is Hone in. Upside down.

Each day has one dated puzzle for all players. You enter a five-letter word, and for each position the game says whether the hidden letter is higher or lower in the alphabet than the one you typed, or correct. That turns the game into a search: like a combination lock, each guess halves the range of letters left in each slot, while you still need real words that fit those ranges.

The website offers the daily puzzle; the Daily Worder app for iPhone and Android adds streak tracking, daily reminders and an Endless mode, which is also available on the web for signed-in players.

It suits players who like binary search and alphabet logic, and Wordle fans looking for a different kind of feedback.

How to play Invertle

1. Open Invertle and press Play Today's Puzzle.
2. Type a five-letter word and submit it.
3. For each letter, see whether the target letter is higher or lower in the alphabet, or correct.
4. Narrow each position until you find the word.

Tips

• Start with letters near the middle of the alphabet, like M or N, to split the range evenly.
• Track the possible range for each position on paper.
• Your guess must be a real word, so choose words that test useful letters in several slots.
• Vowels have few alphabet neighbours that are also vowels; use that when a range is tight.
