Guess the Footballer (PlayFutbol)
Rate itName the mystery footballer as a blurred photo sharpens over six guesses.
Every day: One mystery footballer a day, the same for every visitor on that date, drawn from 716 players with a real photo on file. Past days can be replayed from an archive. New puzzle: Not stated; a new player for each calendar date.

Guess the Footballer shows a heavily blurred photo of one professional footballer and their nationality. Each wrong guess sharpens the picture and adds a clue (position, league, club, career appearances, then the surname's initial), and an earlier answer scores more, from 600 points down to 100.
About Guess the Footballer (PlayFutbol)
Guess the Footballer is one of the daily football games on PlayFutbol, a free web site of football puzzles. Each day it picks one player from a pool of 716 footballers that have a real photo on file, so there is always a face behind the blur, and everyone who plays on that date gets the same player.
You start with the photo blurred at its heaviest and a single clue, the player's nationality. Type a name and pick it from the list to guess. Each miss clears the photo one level, through six steps from heavy blur to sharp, and unlocks the next clue: position, current league, current club, a band of career appearances and finally the first letter of the surname. A first-guess answer is worth 600 points, and every miss takes 100 off, down to 100 on the sixth guess.
What sets it apart from text-clue games such as PlayFutbol's own Who Am I? is that the photo leads: you are trying to recognise a face and a build before the details arrive. It suits fans who follow players across many leagues, since the pool is not limited to one competition.
The page says the first puzzle was published in June 2026. Earlier days can be replayed from the archive without touching your current streak, and the game needs no signup. It plays in the browser on phones, tablets and computers; the page around the game carries Google ads, though none sit inside the guessing itself.

Tips
- Hairline, build, skin tone and kit colour survive heavy blur: start with those rather than fine detail.
- Combine the nationality clue with what you can see before your first guess.
- A miss is not wasted: the third and fourth clues name the league and club, which often settle it.
