Planete Football is a football news and games site, and Guess the Footballer is its daily puzzle. There is one shared player a day, the same for everyone, rolling over every 24 hours. Because the clues include the decade a player starred in, the answer can be a modern legend as well as a current star.

You start with nothing but a name box. Type a player (suggestions help), press Guess, and if you are wrong a clue appears. Spelling is forgiving, with surnames and common alternatives accepted.
