About Football Wordle (Football Minigames)

Football Wordle is one of the games on FootballMinigames.com, a site of football quizzes that also has a bingo, a career path game, tic tac toe and more. The answer is always a current player from one of Europe's top five leagues: the Premier League, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A or La Liga.

You search for a player and select him. A row appears with his photo and four clues: league, club, nationality and position. A green circle means that clue matches the mystery player, a red one means it does not. In the site's own example, the answer is an Englishman in the Bundesliga who is not at Bayern and not a striker. You have eight attempts, and a Give up button if you are stuck.

There are three modes. The Daily Challenge, at its own address, is one player a day, the same for every player, so you can compare scores and share a grid of green and red squares. Solo picks a random player each time for as many rounds as you like, from the leagues you choose. Multiplayer gives a group of friends the same player in real time to see who finds him first. The daily player is set on the site's server once a day, at midnight Paris time.

The site carries ads and can be played in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian.

How to play Football Wordle (Football Minigames)

1. Open the Daily Challenge (footballminigames.com/wordle/today).
2. Search for a current player from the top five European leagues and select him.
3. Read his four clues: league, club, nationality and position turn green if they match the mystery player and red if not.
4. Use what is green to narrow the next pick, within eight attempts.
5. When you find him, share your grid; play Solo for more rounds.

Tips

• Start with a well-known player from a big club in the league you think most likely: a green league halves the field at once.
• Nationality is often the sharpest clue: once it is green, look through that country's players in the right league.
• Position is shown as a short code such as MF, so it says less than club or nationality: weigh it last.
• Solo mode lets you practise against random players from the leagues you choose.
