Football Chainle
Rate itLink two footballers through a chain of club teammates who played in the same match.
Every day: One new pair of footballers a day, a start player and a finish player, the same for everyone on the same data version. You link them through club teammates who shared a recorded match. New puzzle: 00:00 UTC.

Football Chainle gives you two footballers each day and asks you to join them through club teammates. Every link must be backed by a recorded match where both players appeared for the same team, and the game counts how many links, unverified picks and hints you used. A practice mode serves other pairs from the same pool.
About Football Chainle
Football Chainle is a teammate chain game from WordleCup, a fan-made site of daily sports puzzles that also runs a mystery player guessing game and chain editions for the NBA and the NFL. Each day it shows a start player and a finish player, for example Paul Pogba and Sergio Ramos, and you build a path between them one teammate at a time.
You search for a player who appeared for the same club team as the last name on your chain, in the same match. When you pick one, the link shows the match record that proves it, with its date. As soon as a new player has a verified link to the target, the game closes the chain for you. National teams and youth sides do not count in this edition, only senior club appearances.
The board shows the best known chain length for the pair, so you can aim for the shortest route, but any verified route finishes the puzzle. You can undo a detour, ask for a hint or reveal the solution; picks that were not verified and hints used appear on your score, which you can share without spoilers.
The player pool is small and curated: the current edition lists 57 players from a handful of clubs, drawn from Champions League finals with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. The daily pair changes at midnight UTC and pairs repeat once the schedule has cycled through every pair. It suits football fans who know the squads of the last two decades and like Six Degrees style puzzles. The site carries ads and needs no account; progress is saved in the browser.
How to play Football Chainle
- Read the day's start player and finish player at the top of the board.
- Type a name in the search box of a player who played on the same club team as the start player, in the same match, and press Connect.
- Check the match record shown under the link, then keep adding teammates from the last player on the chain.
- When your newest player has a verified link to the finish player, the game adds the last link and the puzzle is done.
- Use Undo last link to back out of a detour, or Get a hint when you are stuck, and share your result.
Tips
- Think in transfers: a player who moved between two of the clubs in the pool is the bridge between their squads.
- Only club matches count, so a pair of internationals who never shared a club needs a third player.
- Browse the full player pool below the board before you start; the chain can only use names on that list.
- Try to match the board best shown under the pair, but finish first; hints and unverified picks cost you score, not the win.
Questions
When does the daily Football Chainle pair change?
