Zlepka is a daily Polish word puzzle on the Łamaniec site. A grid of letters hides a set of words on one theme, given only as a short clue, plus a spangram that runs from one side of the board to the other. Every letter belongs to exactly one answer.

About Zlepka (Łamaniec)

Zlepka is one of the daily Polish games on Łamaniec, a puzzle site whose pages list Ququplay as author. It has run since July 2024, and every day brings a new numbered board, with past days kept in an archive.

Each puzzle is a block of letters, six wide and eight tall, and a clue such as a question about school. You drag through neighbouring letters to spell words. Theme words turn blue when found, and one special word, the spangram, touches two opposite sides of the board and names the theme. Words that are real but off theme still count for something: every three of them earn you a hint that reveals a theme word.

Players who know the New York Times' Strands will recognise the format, but here the words and clues are Polish, so diacritics and Polish word forms are part of the challenge. It suits Polish speakers and learners who like word searches with a bit of lateral thinking.

How to play Zlepka (Łamaniec)

  1. Read the day's clue at the top of the board.
  2. Drag across neighbouring letters (in any direction) to spell a word and release to submit it.
  3. Find all the theme words; they light up in blue.
  4. Find the spangram, the word that stretches between two opposite sides of the board.
  5. Stuck? Find three words that are not on the theme to earn a hint.

Tips

  • Look for the spangram early: once you know the theme, the other words come faster.
  • Letters in the corners have few neighbours, so they narrow down which words can use them.
  • Spend off-theme words wisely: any valid word counts towards a hint, so short ones are fine.
  • Every letter is used once, so leftover letters show where the last answers must be.
