Syllabyte is a daily vocabulary game on the web, iPhone and Android. Each day everyone gets the same five-word puzzle: for every clue you tap syllable tiles in the right order to build the word, racing the clock. Scores and times go on a global daily leaderboard.
About Syllabyte
Syllabyte builds words from pieces rather than letters. For each word you see a short clue, such as 'an electronic device', and a handful of syllable tiles. You tap them in order (com, pu, ter) to form the word, without typing. A timer runs, and each daily puzzle has five words to get through; a row of squares at the top shows which you have solved.
The Daily is one fresh puzzle, the same for every player, so the global daily leaderboard ranks everyone on the same words by score and time, with gold, silver and bronze for the top three and a friends view beside it. There are hints, a shuffle and A-Z sorting of the tiles when you are stuck, and you can skip a word. A puzzle archive lets you play days you missed.
Beyond the daily, Warm-Up is a friendly practice round and Hard Mode is for bragging rights. A Word Bank keeps the words you meet, with definitions and pronunciations. The app tracks your streak, best score and number of plays, and makes share cards to challenge friends.
Syllabyte is made by Dylan Dale and came out in March 2026. Its site says it is free with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or third-party ads, and playable on the web as well as iOS and Android. It suits players who like vocabulary games and quick timed rounds, and students preparing for the SAT or GRE.

Tips
- Say the clue's likely answer out loud: hearing the syllables makes the tiles easier to order.
- Find the first syllable before anything else; it usually narrows the rest to one order.
- Skip a word that stalls you and come back to it rather than lose time.
- Play Warm-Up first if you want the daily to count at your best.
