Substringers
Snip the day's source words apart and join the pieces into new words.
Every day: A daily set of source words, the same for everyone, to cut into pieces and rejoin into new target words; Saturdays have five source words and Sundays six, with a dated archive and timed medals. New puzzle: Once a day; each challenge is dated.

Substringers gives everyone the same handful of source words each day. You cut each word into pieces and snap pieces from different words together until every piece forms a new word. It is from the maker of Storylines and WordWeld on the Redividers hub.
About Substringers
Substringers is a daily word puzzle on Redividers, the word game hub that also runs Storylines and WordWeld. Each day brings a dated challenge of source words, such as ROLE, BINGE, PLAID and TERM, and the job is to find the hidden target words they can be rebuilt into.
You snip a source word by clicking between its letters, leaving at least two letters on each side, then drag one piece onto the edge of a piece from a different word to join them. Joined pieces turn into a solid target word. Pieces from the same source word cannot be combined, and every answer has to be an entirely new word, so simply rejoining a word you cut does not count.
The puzzle grows at the weekend: Saturday challenges use five source words and Sunday's mega-puzzle uses six. A timer runs unless you switch on untimed mode, a Check Answer button tells you how you are doing, and solve times earn gold, silver or bronze medals. Earlier days stay in a calendar archive.
It suits players who like anagram and word-splitting games such as Storylines, Word Shards or 7 Little Words, and who want a puzzle that takes a few minutes on weekdays and a little longer on Sundays.
How to play Substringers
- Open the day's challenge and look at the source words in your tray.
- Click between two letters of a source word to snip it, leaving at least two letters on each side.
- Drag a piece onto the edge of a piece from a different source word until it glows, then drop it to join them into a target word.
- Tap a joined word to split it again, or a snipped piece to restore it, if you change your mind.
- Use Check Answer when every piece is part of a new word, and share your time.

Tips
- Look for common word endings and beginnings inside the source words; they are often where the cuts go.
- Remember that both halves of a cut must be at least two letters long.
- A piece can never rejoin a piece from its own source word, so plan each join across two different words.
- Switch on untimed mode for the Sunday six-word puzzle if you want to work without the clock.
