Statle

A Statle Over/Under question: Steve Nash, 12.5 points, their career average over or under, with Over and Under buttons

Statle is a free daily set of three NBA stat games built from real all-time career per-game averages. Call ten career averages over or under a line, pick which of two players averaged more, then choose five player-seasons to land near the day's points, rebounds and assists targets.

About Statle

Statle puts three short basketball games on one page, each numbered by day. They all use career per-game averages in points, rebounds and assists for the greatest players in NBA history, drawn from real box-score records.

Over/Under, the easy one, shows ten players one at a time with a stat line, such as a career scoring average, and you call whether their real average is over or under it. Career Clash, the normal one, is a head-to-head where you pick which of two players averaged more over their career.

Hit the Target, the hard one, asks you to pick five player-seasons whose points, rebounds and assists land as close as possible to the day's three targets. A fresh set of puzzles drops every day at midnight ET, and everyone plays the same ones.

It is free with no sign-up and no app, and it is a fan-made game, not affiliated with the NBA. It suits fans who know their all-time greats by the numbers.

How to play Statle

  1. Start with Over/Under: for each of ten players, call whether the career average is over or under the line shown.
  2. In Career Clash, pick which of two players averaged more over their career.
  3. In Hit the Target, choose five player-seasons to get as close as you can to the day's points, rebounds and assists targets.
  4. Come back after midnight ET for the next day's set.

Tips

  • Long careers pull per-game averages down, so a veteran's average is often lower than you remember.
  • Rebounding averages for big men from the 1960s run much higher than modern ones.
  • In Hit the Target, cover the hardest target first, usually assists, then fill points.
