Stacked
Connections with a twist: fifteen words split into groups of one, two, three, four and five.
Every day: A new board of fifteen words each day, the same for everyone, hiding five groups of sizes one to five. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern time.

Stacked is a free daily word grouping game from CleverGoat. Fifteen words hide five groups of different sizes, from a single word up to five, and you find them all before making four mistakes.
About Stacked
Stacked is part of CleverGoat's family of daily word games, alongside Word Grid, Categories and Crossherd. Its FAQ describes it as made by a Connections fan for Connections fans, and the core idea will be familiar: find the words that share something in common. A new board goes up every day at midnight Eastern time and every player gets the same one.
The twist is in the sizes. Instead of four groups of four, the fifteen words hide one group of each size: red is a single word, yellow two, green three, blue four and purple five. You select between one and five words and press Submit, so part of the puzzle is working out how big the group you have spotted really is.
Misses come with close-guess feedback. The game tells you if you were one word wrong for a group, picked one word too many, or one too few, which helps you narrow things down. You have four lives (shown as goats), hints become available after your first mistake, and a Define button looks up words you do not know. You can shuffle the board at any time.
All past games are in the archive, and there are themed packs, community puzzles and a create-your-own tool. It also comes inside the CleverGoat app for iPhone. It suits Connections players who want a puzzle where the group sizes themselves are a clue.
How to play Stacked
- Read the fifteen words on the board.
- Select one to five words that you think form a group, then tap Submit.
- Use the close-guess feedback (one wrong, one less, one more) to adjust.
- Find all five groups (sizes one to five) before you lose four lives.
Tips
- Count before you submit: a theme you spot may fit more or fewer words than you first think.
- Leave the single red word for last, since it is whatever no other group can take.
- Use Define on unfamiliar words before guessing, so you do not waste a life.
