Shuffled #240, puzzle 1 of 3: a scrambled 4x4 grid of letters with the first row highlighted, moves 0/21, and the clue Tribute verses between arrows to step through the clues

Shuffled gives you three bite-size crosswords each day with their letters scrambled. You drag letters to swap them until every word reads right, within a set number of moves. Correct tiles turn green and lock, and tapping a tile shows the clue for its word.

About Shuffled

Shuffled is a free browser word puzzle that mixes a mini crossword with a letter-swapping game. Each day has a numbered puzzle (number 239 on 3 October 2026) made of three small grids, and everyone plays the same set.

Every grid holds the right letters in the wrong places. You drag one letter onto another to swap them, and any tile that lands in its correct spot turns green and locks. Dark squares are blanks that are not part of any word. Each grid has a move limit, shown as a counter such as 0/21, so the aim is to finish every word in as few swaps as you can.

The twist on similar swap games is that the words come with clues: tap a tile and the clue for its word appears, for example magic points in video games. New puzzles arrive at 6:00 UTC, completing a daily keeps your streak going, and an archive holds earlier days.

It suits people who like Waffle-style swapping puzzles but want crossword clues to help, and a short three-part set each morning.

How to play Shuffled

  1. Open Shuffled to load today's three puzzles.
  2. Tap a tile to read the clue for its word.
  3. Drag a letter onto another to swap their places.
  4. Watch tiles turn green and lock as they land in the right spot.
  5. Complete every word in all three grids before the move counter runs out.

Tips

  • Read the clues before moving: solving a word in your head saves swaps.
  • Fix letters that belong to two crossing words first, since they settle both.
