Double Cross
Rate itA daily crossword where every clue has two answers, and you work out which goes where.
Every day: One numbered seven-by-seven crossword a day for everyone, in which every clue card holds two answers for two slots. New puzzle: Once a day.

Double Cross is a small daily crossword with a twist: each clue card joins two clues for two slots of the same length, and nothing tells you which answer belongs in which slot. The crossing letters settle it. Fill the grid and seal it, with four strikes to spare.
About Double Cross
Double Cross is a daily crossword from Everhall. Each numbered puzzle is a seven-by-seven grid, and its clues come in pairs: a card such as 1 Across and 14 Across reads like two clues separated by a slash, and both answers have the same length. Sometimes one clue covers both answers at once.
The puzzle is working out which answer goes in which slot. Nothing is checked while you type, so you can guess freely, and where words cross their letters must agree; only one arrangement makes every crossing fit. A swap button moves a pair between its two slots without retyping.
When every square is filled you press Seal. Correct entries flash green; each wrong one costs one of your four strikes, and losing all four loses the puzzle. If you are stuck, Chisel reveals a letter for one strike, and the Almanac fills in one pair for free but marks the day as assisted. Solving on the first seal with no help counts as Flawless, and your streak and statistics are kept.
It suits crossword solvers who want something short with an extra layer of logic, and players who enjoy the crossing letters doing more work than usual.
How to play Double Cross
- Open Double Cross and pick a clue card; each one names two slots, such as 1A and 14A.
- Solve both clues on the card, then type the answers into the two slots.
- Use the crossing words to decide which answer belongs in which slot, and tap the swap button to switch them.
- Fill every square, then press Seal the grid.
- Fix any wrong entries; each mistake costs a strike, and four strikes lose the puzzle.
