QuelMot
Find the French word of the day by meaning, with a hot or cold score for every guess.
Every day: One secret French word a day, the same for everyone, found by closeness of meaning; it changes every day at noon and has live daily leaderboards. New puzzle: Every day at noon (midi).

QuelMot is a French semantic guessing game in the style of Cemantix. Each day at noon there is one secret word, shared by everyone. You propose any French word and get a score up to 1000 for how close it is in meaning, then follow the warmth to the answer and compare your result on live leaderboards.
About QuelMot
QuelMot, by Gordyus, is a free word game in French, posted on itch.io in 2026 and played on quelmot.fr or in an Android app. Every day a new secret word appears at noon, and the whole community plays the same one. You type any French word, and the game tells you how close you are, not by spelling but by meaning.
The score runs from -1000 to 1000, and finding the exact word gives 1000. Each guess goes into a list with a coloured bar and an icon running from frozen to burning, and a message such as Ca chauffe tells you when you are heading the right way. The closeness comes from a Word2Vec model trained on the frWaC corpus of more than a billion French words, so words that appear in the same contexts, like chien and chat, score high together.
Once you find the word, the result card shows your number of guesses, your rank for the day and a countdown to the next word. Daily and weekly leaderboards update live, a streak counter tracks your run of days, and an archive lets you replay the words of previous days. There is also a training mode with 30 words per difficulty from easy to expert, and a blind mode that hides the scores and leaves only a gauge.
No sign-up is needed and the web version has no ads. The Android app adds voice input for faster guessing. The game was inspired by Cemantix.

Tips
- Start with broad words from different areas (nature, people, objects, feelings) to find a warm direction.
- Once a guess is warm, try synonyms and related words around it rather than jumping away.
- Negative scores still help: they tell you which areas of meaning to avoid.
- Try both nouns and verbs of the same idea; they can score quite differently.
