Palabra oculta is La Nación's daily word guessing game. You have six tries to find a five-letter Spanish word, and after each try the letters are coloured to show which are in the word and which are in the right place. You can choose among daily difficulty levels.

About Palabra oculta (La Nación)

Palabra oculta is the Wordle-style game of LN Juegos, launched in March 2024. Each day there is a hidden five-letter Spanish word, and you have six tries to find it. Every try must be a real five-letter word.

After each try the letters change colour: light blue for a letter in the right place, yellow for a letter that is in the word but elsewhere, grey for a letter that is not in it. The answer is a noun, adjective, verb or adverb, never a proper name, abbreviation, foreign word or slang. The game offers a choice of difficulty levels each day.

It is part of LN Juegos, the games section of the Buenos Aires newspaper La Nación, and is played in Spanish in the browser. Today's puzzle is free without an account. Earlier days in the calendar and the LN Juegos ranking ask you to log in, and the game sends you to La Nación's registration and subscription pages for them.

It suits Wordle players who want to play in Spanish, and Spanish learners looking for a short daily word exercise.

Tips

  • La Nación suggests opening with a word that has four different vowels, such as AIREO.
  • E, A, O, S, N, R and I are the most common letters in Spanish.
  • Try to cover ten different letters in your first two guesses.
  • The game does not flag repeated letters, so consider doubles when stuck.
